Cans for Habitat

Recycle cans for cash and help a local family!

Support a program that almost 600 affiliates already participate in!  Cans for Habitat is the easiest way to volunteer and fundraise for Fort Collins Habitat for Humanity.

Sponsored by the Aluminum Association, this simple recycling program allows anyone from the community to become involved.

Schools, businesses, community members and organizations are all invited to suppport Cans for Habitat.  Simply take your cans to the following drop-off sites:

  • Habitat Home Supply Store - 4001 S. Taft Hill Road
  • Colorado Iron & Metal - 1400 East Mulberry

..........and tell them it's for Habitat!

Every month we will track the amount of pounds collected and money earned.  The information will be submitted to the Aluminum Association where our local affiliate is able to apply for grants up to $45,000!

Cans for Habitat is brand new to this area.  Please check back often as we find new drop-off sites and more volunteers.  If you are interested in becoming a drop-off site or volunteering, please contact Shannon Hein, 970-223-9909 x212.

Make every can count!
"Not everyone can swing a hammer, but everyone can recycle."
-Millard Fuller, Founder of Habitat for Humanity

Since the Cans for Habitat program began in 1997, more than 11.3 million pounds of aluminum cans have been recycled by and for Habitat affiliates. Local affiliates, volunteers, recyclers, national and local retail outlets and civic organizations work together to "Make Every Can Count!" For more information on Cans for Habitat and how to get involved, visit the Cans for Habitat Web site at www.cansforhabitat.org.
